PAS working trip to Fiji

PAS was recently commissioned to map a large area of Suva, Fiji. Staff members flew to the islands in our own Cessna 310 aircraft via Norfolk Island, New Caledonia and Vanuatu.

In two and a half weeks we completed fourteen high level runs of photography and also in excess of thirty low level flights using our unmanned aerial vehicle over the Suva Peninsula, which required a lot of consultation with air traffic control! All flights were completed with no mishaps and having an audience was a bonus.

The weather wasn’t perfect all the time, but we managed to sneak in enough flying time for the required number of flight lines needed for our mapping and ortho image production.

After returning to Auckland via the same route – only in reverse – and met by a very nice beagle dog at Kerikeri, processing of the data began in earnest.

Our clients have been delighted with the results and we are looking forward to our next mapping venture in the Pacific Islands.
